The former chief operation officer and chief financial officer of a Maryland based independent boys' school has accused the school of illegally firing him after he complained about alleged racial discrimination. The wrongful termination lawsuit claims that the school's headmaster released him after he voiced his concerns about two supervisors who reportedly discriminated against Hispanic employees. The plaintiff seeks $2 million in damages.

It was further alleged that the headmaster and other school officials were receiving too much compensation, worrying that their contracts could violate IRS regulations and cause the school to lose its accreditation. After notifying the school's Board of Trustees of his concerns, he claims he was barred from returning to work. However, he was never fired, but rather placed on administrative leave. He continues to receive his salary.
The headmaster firmly denied the former CEO's claims, criticizing them as misleading and inaccurate. He explained in a statement: "The school has a longstanding commitment to treat all members of the community -- employees, students, and others -- fairly and without regard to race, ethnicity or gender. [The school] has policies and procedures in place that ensure that reports of improper behavior are considered promptly and fully, and appropriate actions are taken."
